Many thanks to Kev & Teresa as the main organisers of this years rally and to everyone else involved.

This years annual Rally has been set for 16-18th June 2006 at Thornleigh caravan park at Horton, near Ilminster. Ken the site owner has been very helpful, allowing us to erect a 30’*10’gazebo and we can run a cable for electric, so we will have a couple of kettles. We will provide tea & coffee, we also have paper plates, so all anyone has to bring is a CUP, KNIFE FORK & SPOON.
The site also has showers

The nearby pub is called the Five Dials

If anyone wants b&b at the Five Dials, the phone no. 01460 55359. The pub is only about 100yrds from the camp site.

Friday -     The Dog Pound is open!

Nothing planned, but for early arrivals we can take a short trip down to the coast (35mins ride each way). We will have menus available for the local takeaways in Ilminster. The BBQ will be lit for burgers & sausages .

Saturday -     Full days program planned.

If anyone wants a breakfast on the Saturday morning the Five Dials is available but you must book it on the Friday night.

Leaving the site at 11am we ride to just outside Ilminster to the cider farm (opening times dictate that we do this at the start rather than the end of the ride out) You can try up to six different ciders, don’t worry its only a small glass, but still be careful cider can be very strong

From the cider farm we start our ride, arriving back at the camp site at about 4.30pm. Time to relax then while our master chef (Bob) lights and cooks on the Barbie.

The Saturday ride - "We leave the camp site and head on the A303 for about 5miles turn right then ride through the blackdown hills. We drop down from the blackdowns, by-passing Wellington to Wiveliscome, from here we travel along the B3227 through Bampton to join the A396 this takes us along the exe valley to Wheddon cross ,take a left turn and head up to Dunkery beacon, you are now on the highest point in Somerset. After a stop here for photos we drop down to Horner woods ,we stop here for a cup of tea. After the tea break we are going to ride up the famous Porlock hill, we will stop here for a group photo of all the drifters then ride down the toll road (there is a charge of £1.50 we have got a bit of discount depending on numbers). We then head for the coast after by- passing Minehead, we stop for a short beak at Watchet. From here we head back to the camp site travelling through the Quantock hills."

The Saturday night Barbie, chicken, burgers sausages, salad, rolls & gateau. Again the takeaway menus are available for anyone who wants something different.

After the Barbie its up to the five dials for a game of skittles, there will be a prize for the top lady & top man.

Sunday -
For those camping there is a breakfast available in the village hall next to the camp site for £3.50

Say your farewells as we close up the Dog Pound until next year!
