Mak's R1

One thing I can say about the Drifter with absolute certainty ... seldom does a bike come onto the market and arouses such passionate and loyal following. I had and rode many bikes from GW to HD, 2 stroke racers to desert hoppers, and anything inbetween; I used them all the way they were intended but NONE aroused such a passion in me as does my Drifter.

I have included solo pix and 2-up pics. I am rather undecided which look I prefer, fully rigged for going places or spartan for "coffee racing". I like both versions and I think it is an attribute to the Drifter that despite its nostalgia or just perhaps because of it, it is an eye catcher - solo or rigged ....

Now to my accessories, which is a list as long as my handlebar is wide, well almost if you include the bolts and caps ... The best "investment" I made were the Roadhouse Dooleys, but because I could not make up my mind I got the slash cut tips as well as the shark ends. I think the shark ends are louder and make the pipes look immensly long. The slash cuts are more butch looking and suit the solo look just so well.

Most of the other parts are genuine F&S Drifter (and some other VN) parts, except the hand and foot controls and regulator cover which are from Kuryakyn and the fork ends and the pull back riser which are Aeromach. Now these I can recommend wholeheartedly. The most significant accessories are: tan solo and 2-up seat with saddlebags - with all three items having been less than £200 (now that is what I call a bargain), solo seat rail, ignition relocation, lightbar and lights and visors for all, all possible engine mount and bolt/nut covers, lhs chrome engine cover insert, of course the pipes and a whole lot which is on order such as Osprey bags, backrest and some other little but nifty things.

I am getting compliments for my scoot where ever I go, especially from the old guard which keeps asking all sorts of questions about the scoot and starts telling me about their times on a bike.

I cant imagine a better bike for me, so ride safe and keep the shine side up.
